Celebrate a Safe, Socially Distanced Father’s Day in Long Beach

There’s nothing like getting together with dad for a beer at his favorite bar, a round of golf, or a trip to the park or beach to celebrate Father’s Day. The coronavirus outbreak, however, has forced us to shift our celebratory plans for the foreseeable future. But this pandemic not stop us from celebrating Dad and all he does. Thankfully, with a little creativity, there are plenty of ways to still have an amazing Father’s Day in Long Beach while maintaining safe practices.

DIY Beer Tasting

If your father is craft beer snob, why not host your own beer tasting instead of hitting the brewery? Head to Long Beach Beer Lab or shop a full collection of Long Beach beers at Corked. Create a fun and relaxed party on the porch by blasting his favorite tunes from back in the day, grilling up some dad-approved steaks, and reminiscing about your favorite memories together.

Game Night

If you are a young family, an extra-special game night is the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day at home. Get down some favorite board games and put dad in charge. If your kids are crafty, get them to make dad an official “Game King” crown and watch him shamelessly soak up all the attention.

Did you used to love going for Father’s Day brunch Michael’s on Naples, or spending the day at the Aquarium of the Pacific? You can still enjoy these old traditions, just with a social distancing twist. Hop on the bike and cycle down to the Aquarium and Queen Mary for a view. Order your favorites from Michael’s and set an elegant table at home.

Celebrate Near or Far

“Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song.” –Pam Brown.

If your father is not close enough to visit or not well enough to visit safely, a phone call or letter will do the trick in this time of adaptability. No matter how you celebrate Father’s Day in the new normal of 2020, the important thing is spending time with your own hero-dad, even if you’re spending it apart.
