Compound LB; Bringing Wellness and Art to the Zaferia

On a breezy Thursday morning I walked the 3 whole blocks from my house to Compound LB. Located across the street from Commodity and next to Urban Americana, this new community center is warm, welcoming, modern and peaceful. The outside courtyard is spacious, covered in native plants and boasts a beautiful sculpture garden installation by Anna Sew Hoy. It is composed of large white stones and mirrors, it’s abstract and 100% invites you to take a photo, even my dog, Boscoe loved it/I made him sit in front of it for a cute picture (see below).

I attended one of their first, open to the public yoga classes with Sam Parks. It was a free flow vinyasa class inside the main room, which was pretty much outside because of the glass rollup doors that create the perfect inside outside living space. Let’s just say the serenity was on point, topped off with the yummy smells coming from commodity, it was a whole vibe. Highly recommend you try a yoga class.

According to their website Compounds mission is to offer contemporary art exhibitions, immersive experiences, classes, workshops in the healing arts, performances, dining, and spaces to wander and reflect—all in an effort to promote connection, belonging, curiosity, and growth. Their holistic, inclusive and explorative approach is a refreshing twist on the neighborhood scene in Zaferia. Check out their website for upcoming events and class schedules, they also offer parking around the corner off of Obispo and Anaheim.

Their next event is this Saturday, July 31st 7:30-9:00PM – IDEALAB.5:FUTURE REALMS
