The center of it all, District 1 most commonly known as Downtown Long Beach, it is the city’s epicenter for business and fun things to do! District 1 is forever growing and evolving, bringing all kinds of opportunities for new businesses, entrepreneurs and artists.
ART
From murals to galleries, art is all around the First District. Downtown Long Beach is home to The Long Beach Museum of Latin American Art. A place of culture, featuring modern and contemporary Latin American and Latino art through its collection. Moving away from contemporary art and jumping into a little more of a diverse environment, is The Dark Art Emporium. The Dark Art Emporium is an eclectic and ever-evolving mix of Fine Art and Oddities.

NIGHTLIFE
If you are looking for some nightlife fun, District 1 is the place to be. Whether you bar hop down Pine Street or visit some local hidden gems just shy of, such as Elinor’s. If you’re a fan of La La Land make sure you check out Long Beach’s only basement bar, Blind Donkey is a unique space to play some games and get some drinks. On the outskirts of the First District is The Hawk Bar, dimmed lit ambiance always accompanied with some great music.
FOOD
Foodies can’t help but to make their way to Downtown Long Beach, especially when they are on the hunt for delectable cuisines. From local Thai Food Favorite Thai District, to Mediterranean bites at Ammatoli’s, cultural cuisines make their way around District 1. If you’re looking for more of a variety in your selection, you must visit The Ordinarie. They have a great happy hour and shareable plates. If you haven’t tried the pot pie bites from the Ordinaire, you are definitely missing out on something special for your tastebuds.

COFFEE & DESSERTS
With the busyness of the town and early morning traffic, coffee stops are an absolute must! With access to coffee on almost every corner it gets a little tricky figuring out which is the best fit for you and your caffeine needs. Some local favorites are Recreational coffee located on Long Beach Blvd, a perfect little spot to grab a quick coffee or get some studying in. Another local favorite is Berlin Bistro, sharing walls with Fingerprints record store, it is a perfect spot to grab a bite, get caffeinated and browse through a great selection of music! If you’re looking for something sweet to compliment your caffeinated drink, Rose Park Roasters is the place for you. They have 2 locations in the 1st district and both have a great selection of food and pastries.

If coffee is not your cup of tea but you’re still craving something sweet, the Pie Bar & Long Beach Creamery is there to fulfill your sweet desires! Feeling a little romantic and wanting to get a loved one a sweet treat, Romeos Chocolate is the best chocolate in town to make anyone feel special.
RETAIL SHOPPING
Shopping in downtown Long Beach is a great way to explore the district. If you are a music lover, the first district will speak to your ears. With about three records stores in downtown Long Beach, you are likely going to find the sound your heart desires. FingerPrints is a Long Beach Staple, with legendary bands to smaller local performances they are everything you need in a record store! If you are looking for a more unique eclectic variety I would definitely take a gander at Bagatelle Records located on atlantic. This hidden gem is a great place to find your favorite classics that you may not find anywhere else. Looking for some shopping that speaks to your inner peace and soul you must check out Recircle Home. They are considered to be an “Indie Shop”, they specialize in home decor and magical goods. A great place to make any space feel more at home and at peace. Are you a fashionista? You have to check 1897LB located in East Village, a great place to stock up on your LB gear!

Being able to find a spot for your fitness game in Downtown Long Beach is not a problem! Whether you’re planning to prepare and train for your first fight, or you want to simply learn some self defense and get in shape, DG Boxing is the place for you. If a high impact workout isn’t what you’re looking for and you’re searching for a place to zen out you must hit a yoga class at Yoga 108. After workout wellness is extremely important to body maintenance. Show your body some appreciation and go get a massage at Bob The Chiropractor.
