New Taco Festival Honors Dead Loved Ones Through Food and Storytelling

Get ready for a taco showdown like no other! The inaugural Taco Death Match is coming to Downtown Long Beach on Nov. 3.

Held at Mosaic, this festival-meets-competition will feature a lineup of taqueros creating special “ofrenda tacos” in honor of their loved ones.

These tacos will be paired with beers from local breweries, offering a unique experience for festival-goers and judges alike.

Expect tequila tastings, shopping, entertainment, and exclusive VIP perks – plus the ultimate prize for one lucky taquero.

Taco Death Match is a collaboration between LB Living, the team behind your favorite Long Beach festivals, LB Food Scene’s Brian Addison, and Broken Spirits Distillery.

The event aims to go beyond the typical taco festival by celebrating the cultural significance of tacos through a culinary storytelling approach.

Confirmed taco legends include Villas Tacos, Evil Cooks, Craft by Smoke & Fire, and Long Beach’s own Chinitos Tacos.

They’ll be joined by local favorites like El Barrio Cantina, Lola’s Mexican Cuisine, and vegan standout The Wild Chive.

Local breweries such as Beachwood, Ambitious Ales, and Long Beach Beer Lab will be pouring festival-exclusive brews to complement the tacos.

VIP ticket holders will enjoy unlimited tequila tastings, exclusive access to Broken Spirits, and a chance to sample every taco and beer.
