District 8 is known for its amazing restaurants and microbreweries. It’s a great place for families and the events in this area are always a good time. Narrowing down the businesses to highlight was tricky, but here are some of our favs!

Arts and Entertainment: Expo Arts Center
If you’re looking for art exhibits, comedy shows, theater products, events, and more, look no further than the Expo Arts Center. It’s the main art and culture space in District 8 and the surrounding areas. When they aren’t holding exhibits or shows, the Expo Arts Center is also available for rent for events. Built in 1947, this is a beautiful space with a lot of rich history.

Auto Services: Larry’s Auto Shop
Larry’s Auto Shop offers a wide variety of auto repair services, including welding. They offer both foreign and domestic auto repair and they do a great job explaining what repairs need to be done as well as which repairs aren’t needed until a later date. They are a trustworthy shop and their prices are fair.

Food and Restaurant: Los Eduardos
Los Eduardos is one of those places locals don’t want to share about because they want to keep it all to themselves, but right now, I’m spilling the beans! The wait staff is super friendly and will make you feel like family. The food is authentic and tasty, and the salsa is just the right amount of spicy. The kids meals come with perfect kid foods like burgers and chicken nuggets, but I’m all about their enchiladas!

Nightlife: First Fridays
The best nightlife event in District 8 occurs on the first Friday of the month: First Fridays! This event features live entertainment, art, and your favorite local vendors. Many of the participating restaurants offer food and drink specials too. Walk the streets with a date and pop into the various bars for drinks and apps. Pack up the family and stroll around Bixby to check out live entertainment. This event really has something for everyone. Be sure to mark your calendar because it only occurs on the first Friday of every month!

Desserts/Coffee Shop: Katy’s Bakery
Sweet Mexican pastries and cakes for all occasions! The cakes are deliciously dense and moist, and their bread is always fresh. They’re great at quick turnovers for custom cakes and always leave customers with a smile. Tres Leches cake is a crowd favorite but everything they make at Katy’s is good. They have great prices too. Keep them in mind for your next event or when you’re craving some carby treats.

Pet Stores and Services: Pet Food Express
This is not your ordinary pet food store! Pet Food Express carries the best pet food brands and their staff can even help you figure out which food is the best fit for your fur baby. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a pet food store where the staff is this knowledgable before. You can even bathe your pet here and there are vet visits on certain days as well.
