Looking for what to do with the kiddos this weekend? Now that things are starting to open out, we have more options! A few of these activities are this weekend only, but most of them are available any weekend, or even during the week. Remember to check out the LB Home Living website each week for more kids activities, events, and tips, brought to you by Long Beach Home + Living and ExploreLongBeach !
PCH Movies and Moonlight
When: Friday, March 19th at 6pm
Where: 2nd and PCH
Grab a blanket and some snacks, and head to PCH and 2nd this Friday for their showing of Tangled! The show begins at 6 pm, is free to all, and self-seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Seating is also limited due to social distancing practices, so be sure to get there early. There will be propane heaters, but the nights can get cool so you’ll still want to bundle up.
Local Harvest Farmer’s Market
When: Saturday 9 am – 2 pm, and Tuesdays 3pm – 8 pm
Where: Bixby Park—130 Cherry Ave
This is one of my fav outings with the kids. Now that parks are open, this farmer’s market can be a half day event for the whole family. Head to the farmer’s market to pick up some fruits, veggies, and all of your favorite artisan goods. You can also buy prepared foods and have lunch there at the tables, or set out a blanket and eat on the grass. After, let the kids burn some energy by running around the playground there. Don’t forget masks!
Aquarium of the Pacific
When: Daily
Where: 100 Aquarium Way
The aquarium is fully open! As much as we enjoyed visiting the outside area, we’re excited to head inside now too. The aquarium is one of our favorite things to do, and because we’re members, it’s also a very affordable outing. If you aren’t a member, a membership is something I highly recommend purchasing. It’s only $159 for the entire year for 2 parents and all children under 17 living in the same household, so less than the price of 2 visits for a family of 4. There are a lot of animals to see, both inside and out. The touch tanks are a lot of fun, and they have hand sanitizer and hand washing stations throughout the aquarium. They also have food and drinks for sale, and adult beverages for those who are of age. Right now, advanced reservations are required.
Kayaking with Friends
When: Sunday March 21st, 8:30 am – 11:30am
Where: Mark Twain Long Beach Public Library, 1401 E Anaheim St, Long Beach
Spring is in the air, and it’s perfect weather for getting out on the water. This Sunday, join Kayaking with Friends for a 3 hour, family-friendly kayaking outing. The trip will go at a leisurely pace so it’s perfect for parents with littles. The cost is $17 per person. Life jackets will be provided, however, everyone who attends this event must be able to swim. Check out the link below to read the full details and to RSVP. Don’t forget your mask and sunscreen!
Virtual Family Art Workshop
When: Saturday March 21st from 1pm – 3pm
Where: Online
Even though things are opening up, you might still be uncomfortable going to public places, and that’s okay! There are still many virtual options for things to do, including this family art workshop. This event is free via zoom, and you will be learning the art of paper folding. There will be both easy and challenging folding projects. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and materials required are paper, scissors, and crayons or markers. You can RSVP using the link below.
