Go for the Gold at Gold’s Gym

If you’re looking for a new place to workout, you’ve struck gold! Gold’s Gym at the Pike Outlets has endless amenities to choose from.

Gone are the days of waiting for the squat rack. The building has 12 squat racks, eight downstairs and four upstairs. They are height-adjustable and offer various weight options, ranging from 10 lbs to 55 lbs.

There are eight Olympic-style lifting platforms downstairs, meaning the floors are padded so that the weights can be dropped. The four lifting platforms upstairs are traditional, with pull-up bars on them. All 12 platforms have mirrors so you can view your posture as well.

Squat racks offer up the chance for a dynamic workout that incorporates compound movements that engage multiple muscle groups.

“When you’re doing a compound movement, it activates more muscle groups than just a machine,” general manager Alex Zurich said.  “It engages your core more, as opposed to machines.”

A common misconception is that weightlifting is only for bulking up. At Gold’s, trainers teach members how resistance training can burn fat and retain lean muscle.

For beginners or those looking to brush up on their form, Gold’s offers a complimentary welcome workout for new members. During the welcome workout, members are paired with a trainer who can help them assess their fitness goals and learn about all the gym offers.

As Alex puts it, “The heaviest weight you can lift is simply walking through the door. Everything is easy, and we can help.”
