My Long Beach – Fun for Everyone! August 26-30

August 26th – August 30th, 2019

Water, boats, planes, movies… This week has it all!  Get ready for a fun filled week that’s a blend of summer’s end and beginning of fall!

TASTE OF DOWNTOWN WATERFRONT

Wednesday August 28th and Thursday August 29th from 6pm-10pm

Get ready for my absolute favorite taste event of the summer!  This free event takes place at Shoreline Village so you can enjoy an amazing view of the water and fun summer vibes.  There will be tastes from your favorite downtown restaurants, live music and entertainment, and also beer and wine.  Taste tickets are $1 each and can be purchased the day of the event or in advance using the link below.  Most tastes cost around 3-4 tickets (I recall beer being about 5 tickets though so if you plan on drinking, purchase some extra tickets.)  We recommend biking or public transportation if you plan on drinking, or even if you don’t because parking can get crowded and also will not be validated for event attendees. Check out the event on Downtown Long Beach’s facebook page for the full menu and exact ticket cost of each taste, and don’t forget to follow Downtown Long Beach on social media for more fun events!

FREE OUTDOOR MOVIES AT THE PIKE

Thursday August 29th from 8pm-10pm

It’s the last outdoor movie of the summer!  This Thursday, come to The Pike Outlets to watch School of Rock at the Main Plaza.   Pack a blanket or chairs to sit on, snacks, and warm clothes because the nights can get chilly.  There will also be food available for purchase.  We recommend getting there early because a lot of people will want to catch the last movie before fall begins!  Check out The Pike Outlets website for more upcoming events!

GRUB CLUB FRIDAYS

Friday August 30th from 12pm-2pm

This Friday, come check out the last Grub Club Friday of the summer!  This is where I’ve spent almost every Friday this summer with my kids!  Grub Club takes place at Shoreline Village in the grassy patch next to YardHouse.  This free event features a DJ spinning upbeat tunes and food available for purchase from your fav Shoreline Restaurants (Tugboat Pete’s has a great hot dog that’s also super affordable!). There is also a variety of lawn games to play like giant Jenga, giant Checkers, and cornhole.  It’s free, it’s outside, there’s a great view of the water, I honestly have nothing negative to say about this event.  My kids can burn some energy playing the games, we have a dance party, we buy something affordable for lunch, and then we usually head to the aquarium for another hour or so to finish out the afternoon.  Don’t forget to pack the sunscreen because this event is only partially shaded, and follow Shoreline Village on social media to learn about more fun events  (They have a Pirate Festival coming up in a few weeks too!)  Almost all of their events are free and also family-friendly!  Can’t wait to see everyone there to celebrate the summer’s end!

LONG BEACH COMIC CON

Saturday August 31st and Sunday September 1st from 9:30am-5pm

This weekend, get ready for Long Beach Comic Con!  Like the well-known Comic Con event in San Diego (but smaller), this event celebrates comic books and comic book pop culture.  There will be vendors, meet-and-greets with celebs, entertainment, and of course, epic costumes so the people-watching here is next level.  Tickets start at only $35 if you purchase in advance, and kids 10 and under are free with an adult ticket purchase. Check out their website for more info or to purchase tix!
