September 17th-21st, 2019
Does anyone else feel like September is flying by? It seems like it was just Labor Day! September in SoCal is always a unique time. The rest of the country seems fall-ready, but we’re getting hit with another heat wave. It makes it hard to decide on a mood! Am I looking to go to the beach or decorate for Halloween?! Whatever your mood, we have another list of events for you this week! And don’t forget to check back weekly for the best events, brought to you by ExploreLongBeach and Long Beach Home + Living!
LONG BEACH HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH CELEBRATION
Tuesday September 17th from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
One of my favorite things about Long Beach is the diversity. And because of this diversity, we also have a variety of rich cultural traditions in each of our communities. It is important to embrace and celebrate our cultural commonalities and differences.
Join Mayor Robert Garcia and Council member Roberto Uranga for the City of Long Beach’s 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at the Civic Center Plaza. The festivities will begin at 3:30pm, prior to the September 17th, 2019 City Council meeting. Their office would like to invite us all to come out and partake in the celebration. Enjoy some delicious food and live entertainment. We hope to see you there!
LONG BEACH DRUM CIRCLE – WAXING CRESCENT MOON
Tuesday September 17th from 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm
In our family, late nights are okay every once in a while, especially for a unique event like a drum circle! Every Tuesday night, Long Beach Drum Circle meets for drumming, dancing, meditating, making music, and making memories.
All hand-drums and percussion instruments are welcome.
To get to the drum circle, follow Junipero Ave towards the beach, cross Ocean Ave, go down the hill to the beach parking lot (FREE parking after 8pm), turn LEFT at stop sign. They gather at the end of the seawall/sidewalk/parking lot where the parking ends and the beach starts.
Stairs connecting the bluff to the beach are located east of the museum and at Molino Ave.
They have extra drums and percussion instruments. This is a public event and all ages are welcome!
