The commercial cheese-fest that is Valentine’s Day can be a bit daunting for some. Whether you’re partnered and opting out of the festivities or if Cupid’s arrow has simply missed you altogether, Long Beach is a great place to spend some time alone. Here are 14 things to do alone on Valentine’s Day or any day you just feel like celebrating you. 


1. Walk on the Beach. While you’re down there, be sure to check out Gaucho Beach, an Argentine restaurant and coffee shop situated right on Alamitos Beach.

2. Treat yourself to some tranquility at Human Aeon, a wellness center nestled in Belmont shore, offering a wide range of experiences like massages, yoga classes and a sauna.

3. Buy yourself something nice at Make Collectives, a boutique shop in the Arts District where you can find one-of-a-kind vintage items, cute accessories, home decor and more.

4. Blow off some steam by taking a boxing class at Hardworx Fitness who offer a variety of classes for different skill levels.

5. Whether you’re window shopping or looking to add another plant baby to your collection, Plantiitas is a great place to spend some time.

6. Indulge in coffee creation from Ground Hideout, a coffee shop on 4th Street offering up tasty treats like their Orange Cardamom or Matcha Rose Latte.

7. Catch a flick at the Art Theatre on 4th Street, an independent theatre that has been restored to its former 1920 glory.

8. Shop Vinyl and music at Twelves, a quaint, corner shop on 7th Street where locals flock to shop the latest releases and dig for hard-to-find favorites curated by owner, Hector Waluyo.

9. Get a new look at Nudu, a salon on 2nd Street specializing in cuts, color and Brazilian blowouts.

10. Catch the sunset while perched on the patio at The Bungalow at 2nd and PCH, a hip bar centered around music and craft cocktails.

14. Finish the day with a nightcap at Baby Gee, the neighborhood bar specializing in craft cocktails. As a special Valentine’s Day treat, they will even send a postcard to your Valentine for you, whether they know you exist or not.
