The weather is warming up, more people are getting vaccinated, and summer is upon us! The kids are also getting sick of hanging out with their parents and are ready to see their friends, but not everyone feels comfortable with gatherings yet. Here are a few playdate ideas for littles in Long Beach that still allow you to socially distance.

El Dorado Park Park West
7550 E Spring Street
This is a great place to take the kids to get some fresh air and exercise! You would never guess you’re in the city once you hit these trails. There is a short quarter mile trail that’s paved, but the 1 and 2 mile trails are dirt and have more of a nature feel to them. All trails are mostly flat and stroller friendly. There is a fee for parking between $5-8, or they also sell annual passes.
The Bluff
Ocean between Cherry and Junipero
When there aren’t yoga classes going on, this grassy patch is perfect for playing outside. Pack up a picnic lunch and some outdoor toys and plan an afternoon at the bluff. We usually bring a ball, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk. Don’t forget a jacket as the bluff is windy and can get chilly. The large yoga classes are at 11am and 6 pm, so we try to go in the afternoon to have more available space. There’s also a Rite Aid on Cherry if you want to pop in for some extra snacks (I know my kids can go through a crazy amount of snacks for how little they are!)
Lions Lighthouse at Shoreline Aquatic Park

This is another fun outdoor space. To get here, park near the aquarium and walk along the water. The hill below the lighthouse is great for rolling down and running down. The views are amazing, and there are several restaurants nearby at Shoreline Village. There’s also a scooter hub behind Pierpont Landing if you want to take a ride around the lighthouse.
You know it—you’re lucky to live in Long Beach. There’s sun, sand, and some of the best food at your fingertips. Add these burgers to your list and fall in love with your city again.
Rent a duffy boat
This option is obviously more pricey than the others, but it’s worth doing for a special outing. You can pack your own food and drinks and spend the day out on the water. There are a couple Duffy boat rental places in Long Beach, though I have personally only rented from London Boat Rentals. They are located next to Ballast Point and from there, it’s easy to access Naples Canals, which is perfect for cruising. This is a fun activity for all ages. Life jackets are included, and it’s 8 people maximum per boat.
