Summer Fun for Families in Long Beach: Part 1

Summer lovin’, Long Beach is a blaaaast! Long Beach has so many cool summer family events, and most of them are free! Whether you want to be out cruising on the water, crafting, or enjoying some tunes or movies outside, Long Beach has an event for you. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite activities so you can make the most of your summer with your family.

Don’t forget to check back each week for the coolest events in LB, brought to you by Long Beach Home + Living and ExploreLongBeach!

Free Shoreline Summer Lunch Cruises

This is one of our favorite activities. Every Wednesday in the summer, if you purchase lunch at a participating Shoreline Village restaurant, you get a free summer lunch cruise around the harbor! There are plenty of seats on the top deck if you want sunshine and fresh air, or get the views without the sun and wind with a seat on the bottom level. Be sure to order your lunch a couple days in advance if possible, because the cruise tickets go quickly. When you call the restaurant to order, let them know that you want to do the summer lunch cruise so they know to reserve your tickets. Use this link to check out participating restaurants.

Moonlight Movies on the Beach

Pack up the fam and head to the beach for a movie night! This year’s line up features crowd favorites like The Goonies, Harry Potter, Encanto, and more. There are also multiple locations including the beach at Granada boat launch, Alamitos Beach, and LBCC. Bring a blanket/chairs to sit on and don’t forget a sweater because it gets chilly when the sun goes down. There are usually 1-2 food trucks on site but we always bring our own snacks and drinks too. Movies start at dusk or around 8pm; get there early to get a good seat! Check out this link to see the schedule for this summer.

Sounds of Summer: Live Music Series

Every Tuesday night in the summer, 2nd and PCH will be hosting a free live concert. The concerts will start at 6pm and run until 8pm. There is a variety of genres and performers to enjoy. Performances take place on the Grand Staircase stage. Bring blankets or folding chairs to sit on. Seating is first come, first served. We like to grab takeout from one of the restaurants at 2nd and PCH, or sometimes we’ll grab a pizza from the Whole Foods there. Here is the lineup for this summer.
